Only when I arrived at Xiamen Bay did I understand what clear water and fine sand really mean!
I chose a weekday solo trip, and honestly, there wasn’t a single person on the beach! It’s definitely more lively and fun to visit with friends on weekends~
Route: Sai Kung Public Pier → Ferry → Xiamen Bay Pier → Xiamen Bay Beach → Kiu Tsui Country Trail (hiking) → Pineapple Bun Rock → Connected Island Sandbar → Kiu Tsui Pier → Ferry back
Time allocation: 2-3 hours in total
Ferry 25 mins - Xiamen Bay Beach 30 mins / half a day (depending on your choice) - Hiking 1 hour - Pineapple Bun Rock & Connected Island Sandbar 30 mins - Ferry back 10 mins
Ferry: I chose Mao Kee, round trip 40 HKD. Online it says cash & Octopus card accepted, but this time only cash was accepted.
Tips:
1. Keep your ferry ticket as you need to show it for the return trip.
2. Round trip to Xiamen Bay is 40 HKD, round trip to Kiu Tsui Island is 30 HKD. It’s recommended to take the round trip to Xiamen Bay ← You can first enjoy Xiamen Bay Beach, then hike, and after hiking, go straight to Kiu Tsui Pier to take the ferry back without backtracking.
3. When booking tickets, confirm the return time in advance. 2-3 hours is enough for the whole trip. If plans change, you can call the number on the ticket to change the time.
4. Ferries run about every half hour. Pay attention to the last ferry time (currently in winter, the last ferry is at 17:30). #SaiKung #HalfMoonBay #SaiKungFood #HongKong #HongKongAttractions
