This 1000-kilometer route, over the years, I have flown around the world 🌏 gifting myself a revisit to Hong Kong 8 years ago and 8 years later. June 24, 2017, was the first time I flew out alone. Back then, I took Hong Kong Express Airlines flying directly from Hualien to Hong Kong. The route was interrupted for nearly 7 years due to an earthquake, until it resumed this year. I was able to buy the same direct flight with Hong Kong Express Airlines again on June 24, 8 years later.
Hong Kong at the end of June is extremely hot and sunny, with very good weather. Whether walking in the city or hiking, it takes courage to walk outside 🏜️
✨ Summer means going to the beach, so I went to Sai Kung beach. 8 years ago, I went out to Kiu Tsui Chau, and 8 years later this year, I played in the water at Clear Water Bay first 🌊🌊 The deep blue sea looks like glass, just like Nha Trang in South Vietnam 🏖️
✨ Took the Ding Ding tram in Sheung Wan 🚍 I work in banking here, so I always come here every time, 8 years ago and 8 years later
✨ 8 years ago, I strolled through Temple Street in Mong Kok; 8 years later, I met a friend I met 8 years ago for a meal—simple but full of deep memories 🙋
✨ 8 years ago, I accidentally took the wrong bus to Man Kam To border; 8 years later, I mistakenly went to Lau Fau Shan border 🤣 This place feels like a Thai beach with a sea flavor 🦈
✨ Stayed out late to see the night view before heading back. 8 years ago, because I stayed in Mong Kok, I went up Victoria Peak to see the cityscape 🏙️; 8 years later, now living in Shenzhen, I went up Bijiashan to see the cityscape 🏙️🏙️
Now, I come to Hong Kong several times almost every month. Looking back at old photos, 8 years have brought many changes 😃
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is open, the Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Tunnel is open, the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station is open, and fast clearance has been set up, making travel between Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao much easier. Traveling from Hualien to various places in the Greater Bay Area no longer requires passing through Taoyuan Airport, shortening the time from at least a day to 4-6 hours to reach many places in Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai 👍 It’s quickly becoming the second closest metropolitan area to Taipei 👍
It’s summer vacation, are you still planning your trip?
Do you remember the first place you flew to alone? Maybe you can revisit the first place you traveled solo, just like my unforgettable memories of Hong Kong 🤗
