Dining in Tsim Sha Tsui | Watanabe-ya | Recommended Seasonal Fresh Oysters and High-Quality Sashimi

Went for a nice meal on Sunday evening to treat myself well.

I remembered seeing "Watanabe-ya" in Kowloon City, and it turns out they have opened a branch in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The small shop has limited seating, so it’s recommended to book in advance.

The chopstick rest shaped like a sake bottle is very cute.

Remember to check out the small blackboard labeled "Today's Specials."

Ordered seasonal fresh oysters with sea grapes (HK$138 each), which looked very appealing.

The seasonal fresh oysters are called Reiwa no Kaibutsu; they are large and plump, with a fresh and sweet taste, rich oyster flavor, and tender texture. Paired with the crisp sea grapes, the texture is even more delightful. Added lime, grated radish, and sour jelly for more layered flavors.

The sashimi platter (HK$288) includes 7 types of sashimi: salmon, yellowtail, red snapper, sweet shrimp, scallops, sea urchin squid roll, and amberjack, all very fresh. I especially liked the scallop sashimi, which was very large and thick. Adding a bit of lemon juice enhanced the freshness.

After finishing the sashimi platter, still craving more and something filling, I added a bowl of sashimi donburi. There are many choices for sashimi donburi.

I wanted sea urchin, so I chose the Hokkaido sashimi donburi (HK$198), and the sea urchin was very fresh and sweet.

The sashimi on the donburi was cut thickly, generous and fresh. The rice base is vinegared rice, made authentically, with just the right acidity, and the quality was very satisfying.
