Time Travel Alone at the Salvation Army History Museum
Yesterday (February 18th) afternoon, I visited the Salvation Army History Museum inside the Jeongdong 1928 Art Center at the end of Deoksugung Stone Wall Road. The entrance was a bit hidden, so it took me 10 minutes to find it, but I couldn't take my eyes off the grandeur of the red brick building! The 100-year-old Bible and the records of the martyrdom of independence activists, which announced the start of the Salvation Army in Korea in 1908, were impressive. The tour guide told me that "there are more rare artifacts on the basement floor," so I hurried down.

📌 Essential information for solo travelers

Hidden exhibition: 2nd floor, 1920s charity pot original and modern version comparison exhibition

Photo zone: Glass window stairs at the end of the 1st floor hallway → Deoksugung stone wall background

Discount: Free admission with student ID (quiet on weekdays 2-4 PM)

Around 4:30 PM, I forgot the cold while watching the Salvation Army's history video in the media art room. When 5 PM was almost over, the security guard said, "The door will close soon, so hurry up!" I uploaded the Salvation Army document photos from the Japanese colonial period that I found in the basement to SNS right away.

🚨 Notes

Closed on Mondays and Sundays (Open from 10 AM to 6 PM from Tue-Sat)

Slippery underground stairs (sneakers required)

Flash and tripod photography prohibited

The 2 hours in the "space where history breathes" were special. I plan to visit again in the spring for the Jeongdong cherry blossoms + night museum! 🌸

※ Note: The most popular exhibit of all time is the 1907 handwritten Bible. Come see it soon!
