Hung Hom "Seen at the Station" railway exhibition is a paradise for railway enthusiasts!!!!!! (I feel a bit regretful for not discovering this exhibition earlier.)
It takes us through the past and present of Hong Kong's railways, savoring the precious memories of holding parents' hands and traveling through every MTR station during childhood.
Inside, there is the "Kowloon-Canton Through Train," which started service in 1998, running between Hung Hom, Dongguan, and Guangzhou. It carries countless memories of passengers traveling between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Besides the "Kowloon-Canton Through Train," the exhibition currently displays three retired trains: the "Yellow Head," the mid-life refurbished train "Fly Head," and diesel-electric locomotive No. 56 "Dulihua."
The two-story exhibition space showcases over a hundred railway collectibles, including signal lights, the classic "Swiss Federal Railways clock" and "Radar clock" from stations, train operation consoles, the historic departure bell, punch clocks, and genuine wooden benches printed with "Kowloon-Canton Railway." Upon entry, MTR staff will explain the history of the trains and these exhibits to visitors. (Sometimes kids get impatient and rush off to the train cars before the explanation ends.😵💫)
For railway lovers and kids who love trains, the "Seen at the Station" railway exhibition is a great opportunity to learn about and understand Hong Kong's railway history. If you pass by Hung Hom, don't miss it.
