I took advantage of the weekend break to go on a short trip—a three-day cruise from Hong Kong to Kaohsiung with Star Cruises 🚢
▫️I was pleasantly surprised the moment I boarded the ship!
Boarding the ship from the Tsim Sha Tsui Harbor Terminal was incredibly convenient! Besides being directly connected to the MTR, the boarding process was also very quick. Staff even helped with luggage upon boarding, making the entire experience a truly ceremonial experience.
▫️My sea view balcony room = the most romantic spot.
When I booked my room, I was debating whether to pay for the balcony option, but upon arrival, I was convinced I made a brilliant decision! Not long after the boat left, the buildings of Victoria Harbour slowly transformed into small building blocks, and then there was the 360-degree sea. 🌊 Wake up to the sun in the morning, open the patio door and smell the sea breeze. At night, lean on the railing to gaze at the stars, not even wanting to use your phone~
▫️There's no time to relax on the boat.
1️⃣ Find a lounge chair by the pool, order a drink, and spend the afternoon in a trance. There's even a pinball table nearby for some fun.
2️⃣ High ropes! Walking along the roof of the boat on a safety rope was scary at first, but once you're on the zip line, you feel so free. The ocean is right at your feet, and the scenery is incredible.
3️⃣ Don't miss the evening show! The magic show had me wide-eyed. The dancers were in great shape, too. I loved the acrobatics the most; the atmosphere was fantastic.
▫️Foodie Bliss
The free restaurants are simply amazing:
1️⃣ The Chinese menu even had abalone and roast pork belly, and I loved the all-you-can-drink Chinese soup.
2️⃣ The Western menu had a wide selection of appetizers and main courses.
3️⃣ The biggest surprise was the buffet restaurant. Besides the extensive food selection, they even had all-you-can-eat crayfish.
▫️Kaohsiung Half-Day Tour vs. Lying Flat on the Boat
We wandered around Kaohsiung after getting off the boat. The large intestine wrapped in small intestine at Liuhe Night Market was delicious, but honestly, I still preferred chilling on the boat! No need to find your way around, no need to squeeze into the subway—this kind of mindless vacation is exactly what working people crave.
After three days, my skin looked better (probably from the nourishing sea breeze). As I disembarked, I watched the Discovery Star slowly shrink, and I was actually a little reluctant to leave.
