Spending summer on MSC | Tips and tricks 🌊☀️

I think a cruise is a great way to escape reality for a while, especially with parents or children. You can have a blast without having to do too much research.

I'm someone who always does a thorough research before a trip. This was my first cruise, and despite extensive preparation, I still encountered some things I didn't understand once I got on board. So, I'd like to share my experience:

The main challenges of a first-time cruise are: buying tickets, boarding the ship, finding Wi-Fi onboard, and sightseeing off the ship.

1️⃣ Boarding

1. Check in one month before boarding, print your ticket, and photocopy your passport.

2. Arrive according to the time indicated on your ticket. Time is mainly used to manage your schedule; arriving earlier or later is fine, but remember to arrive before the deadline.

2️⃣ Boarding

I recommend downloading the MSC for Me app in advance. You can purchase Wi-Fi and book activities there, and you can also make reservations on the large screens on each floor.

The restaurant was very crowded that afternoon on the day of embarkation! It's recommended to eat something before boarding the ship, as you might have to wait in line for a long time. Meals will not be served during the safety drill.
Your room will have a key card with your name on it. When the crowd is less crowded, go link your Alipay account and deposit some money, as all onboard purchases will be paid with your key card.

3️⃣ Disembarkation
1. The day before disembarkation, follow the instructions to get your disembarkation number. Arrive early to get a number that will allow you to disembark earlier.
2. When disembarking, you will go through customs. Just follow the group; this may take a while.

4️⃣ Onboard Experience
1. Onboard purchases will be paid in US dollars using your key card.
2. A staff member will deliver an itinerary to your room each day, including information about deck activities, disembarkation times, and more.
3. There are daily performances available. You can make reservations the day before using the app or the large screen on your floor. You can also make reservations for your roommates. Simply swipe your key card when making reservations on the screen. 4. There will be cabaret and singing and dancing performances on the 4th deck and the 6th floor avenue, which will be quite lively!
