Travel tips and advice after a trip to Hong Kong

1. Rent a rental Octopus card at any MTR station in the city (HKD 50 deposit + HKD 150 stored value). It's convenient as it can be used on all public transport and at many shops. You can also top up your Octopus card at MTR stations and 7-Elevens.

2. You can buy single-journey tickets for 2/3/4 people at the Airport Express counters, which are cheaper than round-trip tickets.

3. The Peak Tram is less crowded on weekday mornings, so there's less queuing. You can decide on-site whether to buy tickets, buy online, or just use your Octopus card to enter. If the weather is bad or foggy, it's not recommended to buy a viewing platform ticket, as you won't be able to see anything from the top.

4. The Star Ferry has upper and lower levels with different entrances. If you go to the wrong level, you'll have to waste your ticket money and enter from the upper entrance again.

5. The Citybus H2k route has long queues at Central Terminus for sunset viewing. You can buy a Night Walker package on the official website, which allows you to board earlier at Central Terminus. If you don't need to rush to catch the sunset and want to save money, you can take the train from Tsim Sha Tsui Station back to Central, where the queues are shorter.

6. Public Transportation:
Bus: Board from the front and pay (Octopus card/cash/credit card), exit from the back. Press the button before reaching the next stop.

MTR: Swipe your Octopus card/credit card/ticket to enter and exit the platform.
Ding Ding Tram: Board from the back and exit from the front and pay (Octopus card/cash/credit card). Stops at every station.

Finally, I personally recommend trying Hong Kong's dessert shops. I tried C Dessert in Wan Chai; their Dragon and Phoenix Ice Cream is absolutely delicious!
