Village Life in Hongcun

Pretty as a painting.

The 900+ year old Hongcun Village in Anhui province is quite possible one of the most picturesque villages I’ve seen in a long time.

Lush green hills, Hui-style architecture, and a crescent moon-shaped pond all add to the charming ambience of this village, which was listed a UNESCO heritage site back in 2000.

While here, don’t hesitate to wander through every little street and alley, speak with locals if you can, and even wander the outskirts of the village to try and find some hidden gems!
