Located in Ji'an Township, Hualien, the Huilan Store is Asia's first Starbucks built using shipping containers, officially opened in 2018. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the structure is composed of 29 shipping containers that once traveled through major ports in cities like New York, Baltimore, Marseille, and Barcelona. These containers are stacked into an inverted pyramid-shaped four-story building, giving them a new life and symbolizing recycling and sustainable development.
