Feng Shui Layout's First Village: Tangmo Scenic Area

Ancient Huizhou boasts many historic towns, characterized by pastoral landscapes and Shui Kou gardens, which have become the main features of southern Anhui tourism. This time, I visited one of them, Tangmo Village, renowned for its three national treasures and three Hanlin scholars.

The Huizhou layout, where poetry and painting enter the home, is the best depiction of the Tangmo Scenic Area. Although ancient towns may seem similar, Tangmo Village stands out because its layout is based on ancient Feng Shui theories, reflecting the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. Hence, it is known as 'China's First Shui Kou Garden Village.'

With small bridges, flowing water, and residential houses, Tangmo Village is built along the water. The tour route follows the riverbanks, crossing the Sanshi Bridge, Gaoyang Bridge, Wenhe Bridge, and Lingguan Bridge. Visitors can see the ancestral temple, clan hall, archway, and the thousand-year-old ginkgo tree, evoking a sense of exploring ancient beauty.
