Zama City is famous for its sunflower fields in Kanagawa. Even its city flower is a sunflower! The Zama City Sunflower Festival is held annually in mid-August. Spread across two areas, Zama and Yotsuya, the festival boasts a combined 550,000 sunflowers spread over 5.5 hectares, creating a truly spectacular sight.
The festival grounds feature several observation decks, allowing visitors to admire the expansive field of sunflowers. A photography competition is also held, perfect for photographers seeking the perfect composition.
During the festival, there are also various activities to participate in, including flower arranging, selling agricultural specialties, and catching catfish.
How to Get There: From Sobudai-mae Station on the Odakyu Line, take a temporary direct bus bound for the Sunflower Festival venue. The walk from the station takes approximately 20 minutes.
