Near Quanzhou, the county of Hui An hosts many fishing villages where the locals make a living amidst the rocky outcrops.

The area is also known for the HuiAn women, who were recognised for their resilience in manning the households and working out at sea in jobs that were typically done by men.

Today, you can learn about their history in a small local museum set amongst the rocky outcrops and if you're lucky you might spot one of them in their distinctive printed headscarves walking about.
