Huma County is named after the Huma River. 'Huma', also known as 'Humar' or 'Kumar', is a Daur word meaning 'rapid streams in high mountain gorges that the sun does not shine upon'. Huma County is under the jurisdiction of the Daxing'anling region of Heilongjiang Province. It is located on the southwest bank of the upper reaches of the Heilongjiang River, at the eastern foot of the Greater Khingan Range. The county has a border with Russia that stretches for 371 kilometers, accounting for nearly half of the Daxing'anling region's total border length with Russia, making it the longest border county in Heilongjiang Province with Russia, and a national first-class port (Marker 173). Huma, established as a county during the Qing Dynasty, is the legendary location of the Great Qing dragon vein, and the scenery within the county is quite impressive. The riverside park in the county town is beautiful (with a golden dragon sculpture, sunset glow, and the Huma River)! The total population of the county is currently less than 50,000, with agriculture and forestry as the main industries, and cultural tourism is also a pillar industry.
