The Bamboo Forest in Guryong Village, Iksan, is the largest bamboo grove south of the Han River, covering an expansive area of approximately 50,000 square meters. It features a variety of bamboo species, including the giant bamboo, black bamboo, and striped bamboo.
Located at the foot of Mireuksan Mountain, this forest boasts stunning natural scenery and is a significant visual landmark as it stretches across the heart of the village. During early summer nights, visitors can enjoy the magical sight of fireflies glowing in the dark, making it a popular healing destination.
Historically, the bamboo from Guryong Village was a traditional economic resource, supplied to nearby regions such as Chungcheong and Gyeonggi provinces through the Ganggyung Five-Day Market. Today, it is also well-known as a filming location for dramas and movies.
Please note that there is no parking available within the village. Visitors are advised to park at the entrance parking lot and take a stroll along the walking paths to fully immerse themselves in the refreshing atmosphere of the bamboo forest.
