A Tasty History Journey I Went to Alone at the Jjajangmyeon Museum

Yesterday (February 22nd) afternoon, I learned about the history of Korean Jjajangmyeon at the Jjajangmyeon Museum. The origin of Jjajangmyeon, which was started by immigrants from Shandong, China in 1905, was interesting! It was fun to compare the past and present while looking at the old Jjajangmyeon delivery containers and menus on display. The guide told me that "there is a space to reproduce an old Chinese kitchen on the second floor," so I went up there and saw a large iron wok and cooking tools that were used at the time on display.

Recommended time: 2-3 PM (less visitors, so you can enjoy the tour leisurely)

Recommended snack: Handmade Jjajang dumpling set (6,500 won) sold at 'Old Chinese Restaurant' next to the museum

Around 5 PM, I took a picture with the Chinatown street visible through the museum window in the background. The guide told me, "In the spring, a Jjajangmyeon festival is held in the square in front of the museum," so I'm looking forward to my next visit! 🍜
