Sacred lake high in mountains

Visiting Yarab Tso (also called Luvan Tso) in Nubra Valley was a peaceful little detour. This sacred Buddhist lake is tucked between mountains, with unbelievably blue water that looks almost unreal. Since it's considered holy, swimming isn't allowed - but that just adds to the quiet, respectful atmosphere of the place.

It's the perfect quick stop to stretch your legs if you're heading to or from the hot springs. We just sat by the shore for awhile, enjoying how still everything felt.

What makes it memorable is how simple it is - no ticket counters or crowds, just this beautiful little lake that locals quietly visit for prayers. Don't expect facilities or shops, just pure nature and that amazing Nubra Valley light making the water glow. A great 30-minute stop that reminds you why Ladakh feels so magical.
