Ise Grand Shrine consists of the Inner Shrine, which enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, and the Outer Shrine, which enshrines Toyouke Omikami, the god of food. The proper way to worship is to start at the Outer Shrine, in accordance with the custom of the Geku Sensai.✨
When you cross the Uji Bridge at the Inner Shrine, you will be surrounded by a sacred atmosphere, and at the end of the long approach to the Main Shrine, you will feel as if your heart is cleansed just by quietly putting your hands together.
The Outer Shrine is easily accessible, just a 5-minute walk from Ise-shi Station, and the approach to the shrine, with sunlight filtering through the trees, is very beautiful.🌳
On the day I visited, in the clear morning air, I felt my mind become more settled every time I passed under the torii gate.
Ise Grand Shrine is a place where you can take a "free spiritual journey."
