When you come to Mie Prefecture, Japan, you must not miss the holy place - Ise Shrine. As the highest temple of Japanese Shinto faith, it is divided into the inner shrine (Kōdaijingu) and the outer shrine (Toyokōdaijingu). This time I chose to visit the inner shrine. As soon as I stepped in, I felt a sacred and peaceful atmosphere, as if the whole world had calmed down🍃.
Walking into the forest along the shrine road, every step is on the heavy history. The cedar trees are towering, light and shadow shuttle through them, and the air is full of the fragrance of leaves and river water. First wash your hands and rinse your mouth at the hand washing place on the bank of the Isuzu River, and then enter the main shrine. The process is solemn and quiet. Even though there are many tourists, everyone lowers their voices, as if they are automatically tuned by the power of nature and gods, and their hearts are calm🕊️.
What impressed me most was the Ara-sai Shrine (the place where the Ara-sai of Amaterasu Omikami lives). You have to go up another stone step, and the surrounding forests are denser and the aura is stronger. Even if you are not a religious believer, you will be moved by this ethereal feeling✨.
In addition to the building itself, the entire forest of Ise Jingu is worth savoring. The river is clear and reflects the green shadows of the trees, like a flowing painting. If you are tired, you can sit by the wooden bridge and watch the water flow and the wind blowing the leaves quietly, and your mood seems to be washed away💧.
Come to Ise Jingu, not to take pictures and check in, but to feel a respect, tranquility and spiritual precipitation. If you also want to escape the city and find inner peace, this will be a place worth visiting🌲.
