Hunza Valley in autumn

Visiting Hunza Valley in autumn was one of the most breathtaking travel experiences I’ve ever had. From late September to early November, the entire valley transforms into a golden wonderland, with apricot, poplar, and cherry trees turning brilliant shades of yellow and orange. The contrast between the autumn foliage, snow-dusted peaks of Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar, and the deep blue sky is simply magical.

I stayed in Karimabad, the heart of Hunza, where I explored Baltit Fort and Altit Fort — both offering spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Walking through the narrow lanes, I met friendly locals and tried Hunza bread and apricot soup, which felt perfect for the cool weather.

One of the highlights was driving up to Eagle’s Nest for sunset. The entire valley below was glowing gold, and the panorama of seven surrounding peaks was unforgettable. I also visited Passu Cones and the suspension bridges near Hussaini — the crisp autumn air made the hike even more enjoyable.

Autumn is an ideal time to visit Hunza: comfortable daytime temperatures, clear skies, and fewer tourists compared to summer. If you love photography and peaceful mountain landscapes, Hunza in autumn is an absolute dream.
