[Türkiye] Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace was the residence of the Ottoman monarchs from the mid-15th century to the mid-19th century. 🏰

Topkapi Palace, along with Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, is one of the "Historic Areas of Istanbul" that are registered as World Heritage Sites. 📝

The harem (serem) inside the palace is one of the recommended places to visit.

The harem has 400 rooms, and at its peak, it was said to have housed 1,000 women!

The beautiful decorations are truly impressive, as expected of the Ottoman Empire, but the windows with iron bars look quite out of place.

There are many harems from all over the world, past and present...

You need to pay for the harem in addition to the palace admission fee, but I definitely recommend seeing it!

It was a lot of fun to tour the palace while checking the knowledge I gained from watching TV and studying world heritage sites!

Before I knew it, it was already closing time 🌆

And please note that in some facilities women are required to cover their hair, so if you have a scarf, bring it with you!
