📍Yeni Valide Mosque
Mimar Sinan, 34664 Üsküdar/İstanbul
This mosque, completed in the early 18th century during the reign of Sultan Ahmed III, was built for his mother, Gülnüş Sultan.
This mosque, with its beautiful two minarets, is a historic mosque where locals living in Üsküdar on the Asian side of Istanbul gather for daily prayers. 🕌
When I visited, it was just prayer time, and the mosque had a truly sacred atmosphere with the adhan playing.
I took a photo after the prayer.
There were many Muslims visiting, who seemed more like locals than tourists.
The interior in particular has a strong and clear design that is impressive compared to any other mosque in Istanbul, and personally, it is my favorite design, even surpassing the Blue Mosque.
While many of the designs are based on blue, I was struck by this distinctive use of color 🫶
There are mosques within walking distance in Istanbul, and I think it's one of the fun parts of going around the city and finding a mosque that suits your taste 😊🇹🇷
Access 🚶♀️: A short walk from Uskudar Station
Admission fee 💰: Free
