Standing at an elevation of 580 meters, Mount Omuro is one of the largest monogenetic volcanoes in the Izu volcanic group. It last erupted around 4,000 years ago during the late Jomon period, with lava flows forming the Jogasaki Coast. Its beautifully conical shape makes it a prominent landmark for passing ships and a beloved sacred mountain where wishes are said to be heard. At the summit, there is a massive volcanic crater with a diameter of 300 meters, a circumference of 1,000 meters, and a depth of 70 meters. A walk around the crater offers a 360° panoramic view, showcasing the Izu Islands on the Pacific Ocean, the Amagi Mountain Range, the majestic Mount Fuji, and even the Southern Alps.
