📍Address: Fukuoka Raizan Senjoji Temple
Kyushu is usually the last place in Japan to turn red, but the weather was abnormal this year. There were almost no spots in Kitakyushu where the leaves were in full bloom around the 20th
🗓️Itinerary:
The red leaves spots in Fukuoka are usually very difficult to access, so they are more suitable for people who drive or charter a car. It takes about an hour and a half to get here from Hakata one way. There are special buses during the maple leaf season, which go directly from Maehara Station to the temple entrance. If you don't take the special bus, you have to climb up and down by yourself. See Figure 9 for the schedule. In fact, this schedule is very bad. Either you skip a bus and play for too long, or you only have an hour to visit
The earlier the shooting time, the better. It is recommended to take the first bus in the morning. There is no need to worry about crowds here, and there is no need to fight for a spot for group photos, but the sun will be backlit at noon. My pictures were basically taken from 12 to 1 o'clock. I always feel that the color is a bit dry, and the effect of using a polarizing filter on the side backlight is not obvious
💞Reason for recommendation:
The official website picture is all uniform red, but now only the outer top layer is red, the middle is yellow and the sides are green, but it is still interesting to see it on site. It is said to be a 400-year-old maple tree. I feel like I have never seen a maple tree bigger than this one.
🏖️Environment/Facilities:
The temple is not big. There is a queue for worship at the innermost part of the main hall. I didn’t join in the fun. It was mainly due to time constraints. If I wanted to sit longer, I would have to wait for 2 hours for the bus. It was very troublesome.
If you go in the morning, you can go back to the station to eat something at noon and go to the beach of Ito
island in the afternoon.
