Fatahillah Square

The place reminds you of Old Europe, from the buildings to the cobble stone streets. I was told by my tour guide that this place used to be the place where the Dutch built there government when they colonized Indonesia.

There are two museums in the area, Puppet Museum and the Museum showcasing the Old City hall with Jails found underneath the building.

A lot of people visit this place, you might feel it is too crowded. The square fronting it is free for everyone, you can rent bikes or even just walk around. Entrance to the CIty hall will cost you 5,000 RP and you can even bring in your camera (DSLR or polaroid) inside.

There are many restaurants around the area plus a small picnic area inside the City hall where you can rest and eat a meal that you bought outside.

A small souvenir shop may also be found in the City hall and the famous Batavia Cafe is located infront of it.
