The cutest ancient village in Kyoto! 🛖
At Miyama Village (美山 かやぶきの里)
.
Miyama Kayabuki no Sato is a small village
in the countryside of Miyama City, Kyoto
that still preserves the true original culture
Each house still has real people living in it
There are 50 houses, more than half of the village
maintains the original structure that was built 200 years ago
Almost the entire village is thatched roofed with leaves
It is a high roof called Kayabuki
It can be said that it is one of the Unseen places in Kyoto
.
I can tell you that the atmosphere here is very good
There is the Yura River that flows down from the valley in front of the village
Which is a popular place for Japanese people to camp in the summer
In front of the village is a field of beautiful white soba flowers
There are also seasonal flowers that bloom alternately throughout the year
With mountains as the background and an ancient Japanese village
.
Inside the village, there are other places to walk around
Kamakura Shrine, a small shrine
on the top of the mountain where you can go up to pray and see the view from a high angle
Or the Folk Museum (Kayabuki no Sato Folk Museum)
With history and ancient utensils on display
Some houses are also open as cute cafes for us to relax
In addition to sweets, there are also postcards, cute souvenirs
And the famous products of the village such as chicken eggs and black beans for sale
Here are 2 houses that are open as homestays
Matabe House and Hisaya House
Or you can come for a day trip from Koto
.
• How to get there
You can travel from Thailand → Kansai Airport
Take a local train or the JR Sagono Line (Sanin Line)
From Kyoto → Hiyoshi Station (can use the JR Pass)
Then take the Nantan Bus → Miyama
