Jeju, South Korea: Aewol Handam Coast: A Collection of Ocean Colors from Unique Cafes

Aewol Handam Coast is a stretch of Jeju Island where the sky and the horizon meet. The sea here is layered in blue: a sun-lit turquoise near the shore, a deep, tranquil indigo in the distance. Along the coastal highway, unique cafes are scattered like shells, each window a painting of the sea.

I walked into the first cafe and ordered a pour-over. The aroma of the coffee blended with the salty taste of the sea breeze outside, creating a uniquely Jeju atmosphere. The dark base of the cup echoed the blue of the sea.

Moving to another cafe, the second-floor balcony extended out to the sea. The wooden railings, slightly roughened by the sea breeze, were particularly charming. The shop displayed a variety of handmade ceramic cups, each irregularly shaped, like stone polished by the waves.
