Jerusalem, Israel, is a city of great historical, religious and cultural significance. Located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea.
Several attractions recommended to everyone
religious shrine
- The Dome of the Rock: Located on the Temple Mount, it was built in 691 AD. The building has a shining exterior and exquisite interior decoration. It is one of the holiest places in Islam. Non-Muslims can only visit the outside.
- The Western Wall: The holiest site in Judaism, it is the remnant of the Second Temple. It was built around 20 BC. People would stuff notes of wishes into the cracks in the wall.
- Church of the Holy Sepulcher: Built in the 4th century, it is one of the most important holy sites in Christianity and is believed to be the place where Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and resurrected.
- Al-Aqsa Mosque: Located on the Temple Mount, it is said to have been built in 705 AD and is the third holiest mosque in Islam.
historical and cultural monuments
- Tower of David: The highest landmark building in the Old City of Jerusalem. It was built more than 2,000 years ago. It preserves the remains of many city towers and buildings from different eras. There is a wonderful sound and light show at night.
- Israel Museum: Located in West Jerusalem, it displays the history and culture of Israel and collects precious cultural relics and artworks such as the Dead Sea Scrolls.
- Bible Lands Museum: Displays the culture of some peoples mentioned in the Bible, including the ancient Egyptians, Canaanites, etc.
Folklore and life
- Mahane Yehuda Market: Jerusalem's most fashionable and dynamic open-air market, with more than 250 stalls, showing traditional Jewish style.
Ancient city scenery
- The Old City of Jerusalem: Surrounded by city walls, it is divided into Christian Quarter, Jewish Quarter, Muslim Quarter and Armenian Quarter. The city has ancient buildings, narrow streets and is full of historical charm.
- Damascus Gate: The gate on the north side of the Old City, leading to the Arab Quarter. Behind the gate is the Arab market, which is very lively.
