Having enjoyed autumn in Jilin for many years, I thought I was quite familiar with the autumn colors of this land. However, when I stepped into Xidapo in Donglai Township, Tonghua City, I was still stunned speechless by the scenery before me—this place is just too beautiful, too dazzling, so dreamlike and magical that I can hardly believe such a place really exists!

Off-peak exploration, exclusive paradise

Choosing to travel during the off-peak season was the smartest decision of this trip. It felt like I had the entire Xidapo to myself, with only my car the whole time, no one else around, completely a secluded paradise. Usually, by the end of September, the forests here are already ablaze with color, and the National Day holiday is the best viewing period. But this year, thanks to the warm autumn, you can still see the brilliant autumn colors if you go now.

The autumn colors here are unlike anywhere else I’ve seen—fiery red maples, golden ginkgo, lush green pines, all intertwined to form a magnificent oil painting. Every step brings a new surprise, and every angle is perfect for stunning photos.

Classic routes:

- From Tonghua: Navigate to Qinghe Town (extendable to Ji’an), set Donglai Township and Luquanzi Village as waypoints
- From Baishan: Navigate to Tonghua City, set Guosongchuan, Xidapo, and Luquanzi Folk Village as waypoints

Best time: Although this year’s warm autumn has extended the viewing period, it’s recommended to visit as early as possible to avoid missing this brief yet brilliant scenery.
