This hidden gem of a guesthouse at No. 14 Ximaichang Village perfectly matches my aesthetic!
🏡 Guesthouse Highlights
• Decoration style: Natural wood minimalist style combined with Bai ethnic elements, the rattan furniture and tie-dye decorative details in the rooms are top-notch, every snapshot looks like an artsy masterpiece
• Public area design: The floor-to-ceiling window tea room faces the pastoral scenery, when the afternoon sunlight streams in, you can sit and enjoy tea all afternoon (the owner’s tea set collection is very tasteful)
• Room experience: The bedding is made of linen, bathroom amenities have a woody fragrance, and even the hairdryer is a Dyson! My favorite spot is the tatami area by the window, lying there at night watching the stars is amazing
📍 Nearby Activities
• A 5-minute walk to the farmland, where you can see villagers herding cattle and sheep in the early morning
• A 15-minute bike ride to Shaxi Ancient Town (much quieter than Dali Ancient Town!)
• The owner recommends off-the-beaten-path hiking routes, taking you to viewpoints only locals know about
💡 Practical Tips
It’s recommended to stay in a room on the 2nd floor with a terrace, where you’ll be gently woken by the morning sunlight
⚠️ Notes
• The village is quite dark at night, so it’s advisable to bring a small flashlight
• Roads can be muddy on rainy days, wearing non-slip shoes is more convenient
• Respect local customs and do not enter villagers’ ancestral halls without permission
I stayed here for three days and didn’t want to leave at all. Waking up to the sounds of insects and birds, gathering around the stove to roast tea and chat at night—this is what a real vacation feels like~ Next time I come to Jianchuan, I’ll definitely stay again!
