Avoiding Crowds in Guizhou with Kids|Hidden Gems That Are Truly Amazing!!

Who says Guizhou is only about Huangguoshu Waterfall and Qianhu Miao Village?
This time, I took my 3-year-old to explore the off-the-beaten-path route of "Yunshe Village + Yamu Gully."
Even during the May Day holiday, there were no crowds—just pure freedom for water play and hiking.
A perfect kid-friendly experience—take notes below!

🌿Day 1: Changsha → Jiangkou County, a healing stay worth the traffic

▪️Departed at 9 AM, endured endless traffic on the Chang-Zhi Expressway, arrived in Jiangkou County by 9 PM
▪️Stayed in a mountain-view hotel room under 300 RMB—40㎡ with a bathtub!
Prepped a disposable bath bag, and the moment we checked in, my kid dove into the tub. Traffic fatigue? Instantly cured 😂
(Tip: For long drives, pack a portable bath bag—kids stay happy, adults stay relaxed~)

🌼Day 2: Yunshe Village · A secluded paradise surrounded by springs

▪️10-minute drive from the county to Yunshe Village, 15-minute walk from the visitor center to the core area
▪️The village is encircled by crystal-clear spring water from Fanjingshan—so clear you can spot tiny fish!
Toss a watermelon into the water to chill—summer vibes unlocked 🍉
▪️Rented an electric tricycle (1 RMB/minute) for effortless fun~
My kid splashed in the springs and played with pebbles for a solid 1.5 hours, refusing to leave 😂
▪️Lunch at the first local restaurant: sour fish soup (68 RMB/jin with yellow catfish). The broth got richer as it simmered—even my kid devoured half a bowl!
▪️Missed the rumored Nuo opera but stumbled upon a village night market. Roasted potatoes were crispy outside, soft inside—no regrets!
(Matcha lovers, take note! This is the hometown of matcha—ice cream and pastries are a must-try~)

Gorgeous Day 3: Yamu Gully · A magical water playground for kids

▪️Skipped Fanjingshan (hard-to-get tickets + tiring hike) for the closer Yamu Gully
▪️Entrance fee: 100 RMB (free for kids under 1.2m). Pack water shoes and water guns!
▪️The entire scenic area is a gorge hiking trail with pristine streams—perfect for water play!
My kid splashed in shallow pools and chased fish until 4 PM, refusing to get out (only dragged away when feet turned red 😂)
▪️Route tip: Enter from the big waterfall, follow the stream, turn back after the second waterfall. 4-hour round trip, easy for all ages~
▪️Post-hike meal at a roadside farmhouse: green pepper chicken + stir-fried pork with fern cake. Mild spice level—my kid nibbled half a fern cake!

💡Kid-Friendly Takeaways:

✅Yunshe Village and Yamu Gully are "easy-breezy" spots—short walks, zero exhaustion
✅Plenty of water play—my 3-year-old walked the whole time, way easier than carrying them in crowded spots!
✅Budget-friendly stays and meals, ideal for families
❌Yamu Gully’s streams get chilly after 4 PM—arrive by noon for kids
❌Yunshe’s folk performances are irregular—go with the flow for maximum fun~

If you want to avoid crowds while soaking in Guizhou’s landscapes and culture,
these hidden gems are absolute must-saves!
Next time, we’ll tackle Fanjingshan—for now, let the kids enjoy the water! 😎
