Spend a weekend in Jiangmen~
I actually only found out about Jiangmen because of the TV series "The Knockout", so it's no surprise to see "The Knockout" merchandise all over the streets.
The filming location for "The Knockout" is called Sanshi San Xu Street (P1-P10). The name comes from the 33 bluestone steps at Shuibotou, which were built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Shops line both sides of the steps, making it the birthplace of Jiangmen's economy and culture. Park your boat at Shuibotou and walk up the 33 steps to enter the market. However, Sanshi San Xu Street does not refer to a specific street, but rather a collective term for several historical streets, including Xuding Street, Dizhong Street, Chang'an Road, Lianping Road, Xingning Road, and Beijie. The market was originally located on Xuding Street, which is now the most prosperous street and the one with the most "The Knockout" elements.
Big Brother and Big Sister stand on the street, looking down on us. Some of the nearby streets are also very distinctive, with few people and clean streets. A martial arts hall near a small square is practicing drumming, and street vendors are selling local snacks. It's quite interesting to wander around. The salted rice cakes in P10 are quite delicious, I should have bought more!
Next to Sanshi San Xu is Qimingli, which has many small buildings built by people who made money in Southeast Asia. It has a very local feel, and I personally like it a lot. I took a lot of photos.
Jiangmen is not very big, and the cost of living is not high. It's a good place to eat and shop, but I have to complain about the traffic. Electric bikes ride on the motor vehicle lane, with cars all around! I didn't dare to step on the gas. I switched to a shared bicycle and realized that the non-motor vehicle lane is really poorly designed. It's narrow, and the right and left turn lights are on at the same time. Right-turning motor vehicles don't give way to left-turning non-motor vehicles. The red light is 99 seconds! If the design can have three digits, will there be hundreds of seconds...
I've opened my eyes. Guangdong's electric chicken army is well-deserved.
