Zhenlong Three Pagodas

The Jiaxing Three Pagodas are located on the banks of the ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and were originally built during the Tang Dynasty.
According to records, there was once a White Dragon Pool here with rapid currents. Many boats capsized while passing through, and people believed that a white dragon in the pool was causing the turbulent waters. Therefore, they filled the pool with earth and built three pagodas to suppress the dragon. After the pagodas were completed, fewer boats capsized.
The original three pagodas were demolished during the Cultural Revolution and rebuilt on their original site at the end of the last century.
