The reporter was deeply moved by Jing Wumu's youthful ambition and dedication to the revolution, earning him acclaim as a "rising star" of the revolution and a "pillar of the Northwest Revolution" by Sun Yat-sen.

Jing Wumu (February 12, 1888 – December 23, 1918), originally named Jingquan, with the courtesy name Wenyuan, later adopted the pen name Jing Wumu and Xiamo, was a native of Jingjiayuan Village, Guangyang Town, Pucheng County, Shaanxi Province (now Yintai District, Tongchuan City). He studied in Japan in his early years, attending Tokyo Daisei Middle School where he studied Japanese and general studies. He was one of the earliest Shaanxi students to study in Japan. On August 20, 1905, he joined the Tongmenghui through the introduction of his fellow Shaanxi native Kang Xinfu. He served as Deputy Director of the Inspection Bureau of the Nanjing Provisional National Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Shaanxi National Defense Army. He was a pioneer and prominent leader of the 1911 Revolution in Shaanxi. On November 21, 1918, he was awarded the rank of Lieutenant General by Sun Yat-sen's Grand Marshal's Office in Guangzhou. On December 23 of the same year, he was murdered by Ma Lingfu, a staff officer of Guo Jian's First Route of the National Defense Army. He was only 30 years old.
