Hero Mountain: A Hidden Oasis in Downtown Jinan

Jinan's spring is characterized by clear skies, fresh air, and vibrant greenery, making it the perfect time for hiking.💃
Having lived in Jinan for over a decade, this was my first time climbing Hero Mountain. I have to say, the hiking trails are incredibly well-planned, mature, and safe.☺️
👏Hero Mountain, located in the heart of Jinan, Shandong Province, boasts not only beautiful natural scenery but also a rich history and culture.
The Hero Mountain scenic area stretches from Yuhan Road in the east to Hero Mountain Road in the west, encompassing Qili Mountain in the south and Ma'an Mountain in the north.
With rolling hills and open plazas, it's one of Jinan's most famous scenic spots, covering an area of 100 hectares.
Originally called Sili Mountain (Four Li Mountain) due to its distance of four li from the south gate of old Jinan, it was renamed Hero Mountain after Chairman Mao visited to commemorate martyrs and expressed his sentiments, "Green hills everywhere bury loyal bones."
The Hero Mountain scenic area is divided into several functional areas, including the Flower Viewing (Chixia Square) area, Cultural Entertainment area, Leisure and Fitness area, Mountain Hiking area, Qili Mountain area, Martyrs' Cemetery, Children's Play Area, and Garden Management area, creating a multi-layered, open scenic space.
Chixia Square: Covering 27,300 square meters, it's one of Jinan's famous squares. Planted with various trees like cedar, ginkgo, and maple, it features activity areas such as Zhushixuan and a children's play area. The square's landmark is a 12.26-meter-tall statue of Chairman Mao, the largest in Jinan.
Martyrs' Cemetery and Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall: A renowned patriotic education base in Jinan, it serves as an important place for people to commemorate martyrs and learn about revolutionary traditions.
🌟Liuchunyuan Garden: Located north of Chixia Square, it covers 11,000 square meters. With abundant flowers and trees, it offers blossoms in three seasons and evergreen scenery year-round. The lotus pond is a highlight, attracting many visitors during the summer blooming season.
🌟Ma'an Mountain: Adjacent to the western foot of Hero Mountain, Ma'an Mountain is covered with pine and cypress trees, making it a popular spot for fitness activities. The ancient-style architecture, such as the Huixian Pavilion and the long corridor, adds a touch of classical charm.
Hero Mountain is famous not only for its beautiful natural scenery but also for its rich history and culture.
It's the burial place of many martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Jinan Campaign, serving as an important testament to Jinan's revolutionary history.
Furthermore, Hero Mountain has deep connections with several revolutionary pioneers, such as Wang Jinmei and Deng Enming, founders of the Chinese Communist Party, who carried out activities here, making significant contributions to China's revolution.
