Jining Dongda Temple, commonly known as "Shunhe Dongda Temple" because it is located by the ancient canal.
It covers an area of 7,200 square meters, with a building area of 4,234 square meters. Dongda Temple was founded during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 700 years. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Muslims raised funds to rebuild it, resulting in a grand architectural scale. It was further restored with iron bestowed by Emperor Qianlong during the Qianlong period, reaching its current scale. It is one of the five major ancient Islamic mosques in China, along with Jining Xida Temple, Nanjing Jingjue Temple, Xi'an Huajue Temple, and Lanzhou Qiaomen Street Mosque, and is especially known as the most spectacular, ranking first among the five major mosques. In 2006, it was approved by the State Council and announced as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In November 2009, it was rated as a national 3A-level tourist attraction.
