Located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, Donglin Temple was first built in 384 by Huiyuan, a famous monk of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. As the Buddhist center of the South, it has been one of the eight famous Buddhist temples in China since the Sui Dynasty. For more than 1,000 years, Donglin Temple has been repeatedly abandoned and repaired. In the Tang Dynasty, it was famous for its large collection of Buddhist scriptures. It was once destroyed in the Song Dynasty and rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty.
