At the foot of Mount Lu, there are two Pure Land Buddhist temples: Donglin Temple and Xilin Temple. The latter is where Su Shi wrote poems on the temple walls.

⛩️Xilin Temple
It looks like mountains from a distance and peaks from the side, and it looks different in height and distance.
I don't know the true face of Mount Lu because I am in the mountain.

Many people know this poem written by Su Shi in Mount Lu
But you may not remember the title of the poem "On the Wall of Xilin"
It was written by Su Shi on the wall of Xilin Temple.

Brother Huiyong founded Xilin Temple in 377
Later, his junior fellow disciple Huiyuan came to Xilin Temple to live
But he established a new temple on the other side of the wall and built the Donglin Temple.
This is the ancestral temple of the Pure Land Sect.
However, there are few tourists in Xilin Temple.

Xilin Temple was founded in the Jin Dynasty, 17 years earlier than Donglin Temple.
The one we see now is the one rebuilt in 1989 by Master Juehai of Twan, whose ancestral home is in Jiangxi

The birthplace of Pure Land Buddhism
Because it is located to the east of Xilin Temple, it is named Donglin Temple.
Because the Pure Land method of chanting the Buddha's name is simple to practice, it is widely popular.
It is the Buddhist name that says "Namo Amitabha"

Donglin Temple is quite large, and many things are free.
If you are wearing too light a shawl, you will be given a cape at the door.
Free vegetarian meals, free fortune telling, free water

Donglin Temple and Donglin Buddha are not the same place
Donglin Temple and Xilin Temple are only a 1-minute drive away
There is a parking lot at the entrance of Donglin Temple, but there are few parking spaces at Xilin Temple.
