Who understands the pain of crowded holidays! This time I found a truly laid-back way to enjoy Jiuzhaigou, no rushing, no early mornings, only about 700+ per person, easily enjoying the beautiful scenery. No more words, here’s the guide👇
1. Itinerary
Day 1: Wake up naturally and set off
🚗 Depart from Chengdu, book a nanny car business seat in advance (the seat can recline flat, super comfortable), the driver will pick you up directly at the hotel. Catch up on sleep and enjoy the scenery on the way. Arrive at the Jiuzhaigou entrance hotel around 4 PM to check in. In the evening, have some local snacks at the nearby snack street, yak meat skewers and butter tea are both very good!
Day 2: In-depth tour of Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area
🌄 Leisurely enter the scenic area at 8 AM (avoid peak crowds), take the sightseeing bus directly to Changhai Lake. Changhai is truly stunning, the deep blue water looks like a huge gem, with snow-capped mountains faintly visible in the distance, perfect for photos📸 From Changhai, walk down to check in at Five-Color Pond, Nuorilang Waterfall, Five Flower Lake, and Pearl Shoal Waterfall (filming location of "Journey to the West"). If you get tired, take the shuttle bus; each stop has supply points, very convenient.
Day 3: Stroll around Chuanzhusi Town
Sleep in the morning, then go explore Chuanzhusi Town. It’s full of Tibetan culture; you can rent a set of Tibetan clothes for photos (80 RMB/set), have a makeup artist braid your hair with small braids, then take photos in front of the prayer flags for a full atmosphere. For lunch, have a Tibetan-style hot pot, about 60 RMB per person, the yak meat is tender and flavorful, paired with barley cakes, very satisfying. In the afternoon, buy some local specialties like yak jerky and Sichuan pepper sauce. Remember to shop at the supermarket, it’s much cheaper than in the scenic area.
Day 4: Return trip
Pack up in the morning, check out, and have the driver take you to the airport or train station to end the pleasant trip.
2. Accommodation Recommendations
Jiuzhaigou Entrance Hotels: It’s recommended to stay at hotels near the entrance for convenient travel, within walking distance to the scenic area entrance. There are many accommodation options at the entrance, prices range from a few hundred to over a thousand RMB, so you can choose according to your budget. I stayed at [Hotel Name], about 300+ RMB per night, the room was clean and tidy, with free breakfast, great value for money.
3. Food Recommendations
- Tibetan-style hot pot: A must-try in Jiuzhaigou, with yak meat, various mushrooms, and vegetables, the broth is fresh and delicious, very warming.
- Yak jerky: Firm and chewy meat, the more you chew, the more flavorful it gets. Great as a snack or souvenir.
- Barley cakes: Crispy texture with a light barley aroma, very filling.
4. Notes
1. Jiuzhaigou is at a high altitude, so altitude sickness may occur. Prepare oxygen bottles and altitude sickness medicine in advance.
2. UV rays are strong in the scenic area, remember to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
3. Temperature difference between morning and evening is large, bring a thick jacket to avoid catching a cold.
4. Don’t buy overpriced oxygen bottles at the scenic area entrance; it’s more cost-effective to buy them in Chengdu pharmacies beforehand.
This kind of laid-back trip is really perfect for lazy people like me, you can have fun without getting too tired. Everyone, quickly save this, find a time to enjoy a leisurely trip to Jiuzhaigou!
