Here’s how we spent an amazing day in Johor Bahru, filled with tasty food, relaxing cafés, and a little shopping—all just a short ride from the checkpoint.
---
Morning: Clear Customs & Head to KSL Area
Once we cleared customs, we took a quick 10-minute drive to KSL Shopping Mall. It’s a great spot for a bit of shopping and a good stretch before the day really kicks off.
Lunch at K Fry Urban Korean (Holiday Villa)
We were starving, so our first stop was K Fry Urban Korean. Their Korean fried chicken was just what we needed—crispy, flavorful, and totally satisfying. Perfect way to start our JB adventure.
---
Afternoon: Café Hopping & Shopping at Austin Heights
After lunch, we drove about 20 minutes to Austin Heights, which is full of cool spots to shop and relax.
- Slow Day Café – This place has the best matcha desserts and lattes. It’s a really peaceful spot to unwind and just enjoy the moment.
- Nuo Yuan Mochi – We stumbled upon this hidden gem inside a laundromat. They make the most delicious handmade mochi, and you can even choose your own flavors. So fresh and chewy!
- Ben Gong’s Tea – We couldn’t resist trying the golden oolong kakigori here. It’s a shaved ice dessert with tea-infused flavors—super refreshing and perfect for the warm weather.
---
Evening: Dinner at Taman Melodies
By now, we were ready to wind down, so we headed to Taman Melodies for dinner. It’s another 20-minute drive from Austin Heights, and it was definitely worth it.
Dinner at The Camp 4 Season Outdoor Park
Dinner was at The Camp 4 Season Outdoor Park, an outdoor food court with a fun camping vibe. The food was fantastic, offering a mix of Malaysian and international dishes. The atmosphere was super chill, and it made for a nice end to the day.
---
All in all, it was a day full of good food, cool cafés, and lots of laughter. JB never disappoints!
