Hegra | Al-Hijr

Madain Salih Archaeological Site is the first heritage site in Saudi Arabia to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its ancient name is "Hegra." In Islam, it is considered a cursed place, and it is also the largest preserved site of the Nabataean civilization south of Petra in Jordan. The site features well-preserved massive tombs dating back to the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD. There are also about 50 inscriptions and some cave paintings that existed before the Nabataean civilization. You can take a bus tour (about 2 hours) or go with a few friends in a vintage Land Rover (great for photos), which offers more flexible timing. Because it’s so hot, I chose the quick tour 😂
