We went to see the largest castle gate in Japan!

Tsurumaru Castle (also known as Kagoshima Castle) was the residence of the Shimazu clan, whose construction began around 1601 by Iehisa, who would later become the 18th head of the Shimazu clan and the first feudal lord.

It consists of a mountain castle (Joyama) behind it and a residence at the foot of the mountain!

The Goromon Gate is located in the center of the front of the residence,

It was destroyed by fire in 1873,

but was restored in 2020 as the largest castle gate in Japan✨️

You can go through the gate for free🙆

There are lotus clusters around the gate, and they bloom depending on the season.

There are also various tourist spots in the surrounding area, so why not visit them as well?
