BEST Satay Kajang Spot in Malaysia

When people talk about satay, they’ll always mention Kajang because this is where it all started. That’s why it’s called Satay Kajang 🇲🇾

🍢 What’s Satay?
It’s Malaysia’s iconic grilled skewer meat that's smoky, juicy, and served with peanut sauce and nasi himpit (compressed rice cake). Simple and legendary.

📍 Where to Go:
You can use public transport to MRT Stadium Kajang, and walk to Medan Sate Kajang @Jalan Sulaiman, the local food court famous for its satay stalls. Our favourite is Satay Haji Rono No. 2&4, run by Zaman, the grandson of the late Haji Rono — one of the OG satay sellers from our grandparents’ time.

🐓🐄🐐🦌 What to Try:
They serve everything from chicken, beef, and lamb, to rare finds like tembusu (beef intestine) and even venison(Deer). Every stick is perfectly grilled — tender, juicy, and not too burnt. The flavour hits that perfect salty-sweet balance with the smokiness from the charcoal.

🥜🌶️ Pro Tip:
Dip your satay and the nasi impit to the peanut sauce for the OG Satay Kajang experience.

Mix in a bit of their chili paste with the peanut sauce if you like it spicy or do what I do, and eat it separately for that fiery kick 🔥.

💸 Good to Know:

Prices are reasonable from RM1.50 for Chicken Satay.

For average person, I'd suggest to order around 6-8 sticks with the Nasi Himpit to feel full and sated.

Open from 10 am–10 pm

Dinner crowd can get crazy, so come early or expect a 30+ min wait 😅

The place can get warm since it’s fan-cooled, but it’s airy enough that you won’t leave smelling like charcoal 👕

✨ Honestly, no trip to Kajang is complete without trying satay here. The taste, the story, the tradition are all part of Malaysia’s food heritage.
