I went hiking in Kamakura.
It was the season of autumn leaves, so I wanted to see Shishimai Valley,
so I climbed the Tengoku hiking trail from Hasedera Temple in Kita-Kamakura, and came down from Shishimai Valley!
(When you go up the hiking trail from Hasedera Temple, there are signs all the way, so you can go without getting lost!)
It takes 2-3 hours to walk, but it's not too difficult, and on the other hand it's flat and not too easy, so it was just the right hike!
You can see the autumn leaves of maples and ginkgo trees in Shishimai Valley. I went in the first half of December, and the maples at Hasedera Temple were bright red, but Shishimai Valley still had a lot of green leaves, probably because of the sunlight. According to someone who comes hiking every year, the leaves are the reddest around the beginning of the year!!
But it was still very beautiful. You can come out from the back of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, so after that, you can have a drink at Komachi-dori! Then you can go to the sea and have a drink! It was a great holiday.
If you are not confident in your physical strength or you only want to see Shishimai Valley, you can take a bus to the trailhead, go up Shishimai Valley, and then go down the same path. You can enjoy it! I recommend it because the scenery is different on the way there and back! !
Also, Shishimai Valley has some steep slopes and you walk along a path with a stream running through it, so wear hiking boots.
