🏷️Nagano Summary

Every time I go to Kamikochi, I wonder what to wear?
So I decided to post this✨
I hope it will be helpful for your trip.
Kamikochi is a strange place with serious mountain climbers and ladies in dresses and sandals 🤭
If it was just Kappa Bridge, you could definitely come here for tea time 👗
But don't forget that it's a deep mountain place where 🐻s also coexist ✨

Summer to autumn is a popular season for Kamikochi, so if you're going on weekends or holidays, we recommend you get going early! This time, I enjoyed Kamikochi so much that I didn't return until around 3pm, but I waited an hour to catch the bus to Sawando Parking Lot 😂
《Points》
❶ Choose clothes that you can easily take off and put on to regulate your body temperature
☞ Even if it's cold when you start walking, your body temperature will rise as you walk and you'll get hot. Layered clothing and outerwear are recommended!
❷ It's recommended to go in sneakers or trekking shoes that are easy to walk in!
☞ On rainy days and the day after, puddles will form and the roads will become muddy, so sneakers or waterproof trekking shoes are recommended.
If you're only walking for about 1-2 hours, jeans are fine, but if you're going to walk a lot, I recommend something stretchy.
❸ Don't forget to take measures against rain and UV rays!
☞ The weather changes easily in the mountains, so it's safer to have rain gear.
The high altitude means the sun is strong, so UV protection is essential.
Seasonal
● April and May (It's still snowy in Kamikochi)
☞ In general, we recommend layering your winter clothes. You'll freeze if you wear spring clothes. Fleece or a thin sweater during the day, and a down jacket or windbreaker will be necessary in the mornings and evenings as it gets cold.
It's a good idea to bring gloves and a hand warmer.
● June, July, and August (A thin jacket is essential even in summer)
☞ From June to early July, spring to early summer clothes such as long-sleeved shirts are recommended.
From late July to August, summer clothes are recommended.
Hats and long-sleeved shirts are recommended to protect against UV rays.
It gets cold in the mornings and evenings, so don't forget your windbreaker!
● September, October, and November (Cold measures are essential! Mid-winter clothes are recommended)
☞ From September to early October, morning temperatures are in the single digits. Fleece-based winter clothes are recommended. Mornings and evenings in mid-October are below freezing.
The temperature is around 10 degrees during the day, so wear midwinter clothes that you can easily take off and put on. Don't forget gloves and a hand warmer.
《Things that are useful to have》
① Drinks (water or tea)
☞ Always put one in your backpack before you start your walk. You can buy one in Kamikochi, but it's a bit pricey (around 200 yen)
② Snacks and food for the road
☞ Food with a high sugar content is good for recovering from fatigue. Chocolate, rice balls for when you're hungry, etc.
③ Small change
☞ Many toilets in Kamikochi have a tip system (100-200 yen). It's convenient to have a few 100 yen coins in your wallet.
④ Rain gear that can also be used as cold weather clothing
☞ A waterproof windbreaker that allows you to use both hands is probably the most useful.
Folding umbrellas are also great.
