Japan's Alps: Kamikochi 4-Hour Stroll

Known as Japan's Alps, Kamikochi is best visited in April or May to enjoy the stunning snow-capped mountain views. However, summer is also a great time to visit as the weather remains cool. Even in July, the temperatures are refreshing, and the gentle mountain breeze makes for a delightful experience. The round-trip walking route is approximately 11km, mostly flat, with a difficulty rating of one star, making it suitable for family outings.

First Stop: Taisho Pond – Enjoy panoramic views of the high mountains. In winter, you can see snow-covered peaks.
Second Stop: Tashiro Pond – Features beautiful wetland scenery.
Third Stop: Kappa Bridge – Legend has it that there was no bridge here in the past, and people crossing the river would carry their luggage on their heads, resembling the mythical Kappa, hence the name. There are restaurants, hotels, and gift shops on both sides of the bridge where you can recharge before continuing. Many visitors enjoy cold soba noodles here.
Fourth Stop: Myojin Pond (¥500 entrance fee) – The pond features a small torii gate by the lakeside, making it a perfect photo spot. The lake view is stunning, and the atmosphere is serene and peaceful.

Helpful Tips: Restrooms cost ¥100, so remember to bring some coins. There are monkeys and black bears in the area, so attaching a small bell to your backpack can help keep animals away. For those interested in camping, you can bring your tent into the park.
