Kanazawa | Seisonkaku in Kenrokuen

Amid the ancient paths of Kenrokuen, after passing the bustling Kotoji Lantern, I arrived at a serene and elegant corner—Seisonkaku. This villa was built by Maeda Nariyasu, the 13th lord of the Kaga Domain, for his mother. It is one of the most significant surviving architectural examples of residences for noblewomen.

Seisonkaku blends Japanese and Western styles, preserving precious materials and exquisite artworks from the late Edo period. The vividly colored ceilings and sliding door paintings transport visitors to the daily life of the Maeda family. Outside, the villa is surrounded by a garden, offering picturesque views at every step, exuding tranquility and elegance.

📍Location: Kenrokuen [Seisonkaku]
Address: 1-2 Kenroku-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture
