Last month I had a lunch gathering with friends at one of my favourite kopitiams in Malacca, Ah Ma Ho Liao @ Jonker (阿嬷好料). Nestled in at beautifully restored heritage corner lot along Jonker Street, this kopitiam serves Grandma’s classic flavours.

The menu such as traditional breakfast sets with Half-boiled Kampung eggs and toast, Kampung Fried Rice, Chee Cheong Fun, and a range of traditional beverages. There are also hearty main dishes, including their signature Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken, Curry Noodles, Mee Siam with Curry Chicken or Rendang Chicken, and many more.

We ordered most of their popular menu, and I personally loved three standout dishes:
▶️🍛 Nasi Lemak with Rendang Chicken – fragrant coconut rice served with tender, flavorful rendang chicken that’s rich in spices. The sambal added just the right amount of heat, balancing the creaminess of the rice.
▶️🥪 Charcoal Kaya + Butter Toast – crispy on the outside yet soft inside, with a generous spread of fragrant kaya and creamy butter that melted together beautifully — simple, nostalgic perfection.
▶️🥧Portuguese Egg Tart – freshly baked with a flaky crust and silky custard filling that was lightly caramelized on top, offering a delightful sweetness to end the meal.
▶️☕ Their coffee was really good too, perfectly complementing the traditional dishes.

We truly had a wonderful foodie indulgence and a pleasant time here. After lunch, we took a stroll along Jonker Street to enjoy the vibrant charm and heritage beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
