Former British Consulate at Takao

The Former British Consulate at Takao is situated on a hill in the Sizihwan area and is one of Taiwan's oldest surviving Western-style buildings. Built during the late Qing Dynasty, it holds significant historical and architectural value. Originally serving as the official British consular office for Takao Port (now Kaohsiung Port), the site has been transformed into a museum that combines historical exhibits with a scenic viewing platform. Inside, visitors can find preserved diplomatic documents, old photographs, and architectural details, offering a glimpse into Taiwan's interactions with foreign nations during the 19th century. From the consulate's balcony, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Kaohsiung Port and the Sizihwan coastline, especially stunning during sunset.
