🎢 E-DA Theme Park — A Greek-Myth Escape in Southern Taiwan

#hellohalloween

Background
E-DA Theme Park (義大遊樂世界) is a large Greek-themed amusement park in Dashu District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It covers roughly 90 hectares as part of the E-DA World complex, which also includes outlet shopping, hotels, restaurants and various entertainment options. The park officially opened in December 2010 after a trial operation earlier in the same year.

E-DA Theme Park is divided into three main themed areas:
• Acropolis — inspired by ancient Greek temple architecture, featuring a large theatre called the E-DA Royal Theater (with ~1,800 seats), plus several outdoor thrill rides.
• Santorini Mountain City — styled after the white-and-blue buildings of Santorini; this area is great for strolling, photos, restaurants, shops, and includes attractions like a “5D Ghost Ship.”
• Trojan Castle — a large indoor family-friendly zone (especially useful for escaping bad weather), with many rides and themed décor based on the legend of Troy.

Why It’s Worth Visiting
• Because of its scale and variety: there are over 30 rides, shows, and entertainment choices ranging from adrenaline rides to gentler family-attractions.
• The aesthetics & photo opportunities are strong: Greek-style façades, Santorini-style buildings, picturesque plazas and architecture make it more than just rides — it feels like wandering through mythic scenery.
• Complementary facilities & convenience: being part of E-DA World means you’ve got shopping (outlet mall), hotels, restaurants and where to stay in-site, so it’s good for longer stays. Also, there are facilities like visitor centre, transport links (bus from Kaohsiung stations), parking etc.

My Impression
Visiting E-DA Theme Park felt like stepping into a large-scale fantasy version of Greece, but with plenty of thrills. I appreciated the mix: mornings spent riding outdoor coasters or watching big theatrical performances, afternoons in Santorini City capturing photos in the blue-white zones or exploring shops, and then winding down in the indoor rides at Trojan Castle when weather or fatigue set in.

What stuck with me was the design — theness of Santorini mountains or temple pillars in Acropolis, the themed details, and how these spaces change with light: morning sun casting shadows over columns, golden hour glow off white walls, and evening lights turning plazas magical. Also useful: arriving early helped beat queues, and staying in one of the hotels in E-DA World helps spread out the experience so you’re not rushing.
